UroToday marks 25th annual International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW) originally proclaimed by Ronald Reagan in 1986

BERKELEY, CA USA (UroToday.com) - October 16, 2011 - Acknowledging that nosocomial (hospital-associated) infections directly caused more than twenty thousand deaths annually and contributed indirectly to an additional sixty thousand deaths every year, Ronald Reagan proclaimed the week beginning October 19, 1986 as National Infection Control Week.
Twenty-five yerars later, UroToday.com is pleased to mark the anniversary of this landmark proclamation as we, along with our partner, Verathon, Inc., work toward the goal of minimizing hospital acquired infections, and in particular, catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs).
