AUA 2012 - Unilateral prostate cancer: Analysis of predictors in search and Duke Prostate Center databases - Session Highlights

ATLANTA, GA USA (UroToday) -

Predictors for Prostate Cancer Candidate Selection

A retrospective analysis of men with clinically localized prostate cancer from the Duke Prostate Center (n=2,616) and the Shared Equal Access Cancer Hospital (SEARCH) (n=1,636) radical prostatectomy databases determined the incidence of unilateral prostate cancer was nearly 20% in both cohorts.

Gleason scores were associated with unilateral prostate cancer and then adjusted for cancer laterality on biopsy. A Duke/SEARCH scoring system defined the probabilities of pathologically unilateral prostate cancer based on biopsy parameters.
