Patient's Self-Reported Quality of Life as a Prognostic Factor in Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma Initially Treated with TKI: Nomogram Proposal - Beyond the Abstract

Baseline Health-related quality of life measured with FKSI-19 questionnaire is related to overall survival in metastatic renal cell carcinoma.

Death risk decreased by 5% for each extra point in the questionnaire (HR 0,95 IC 95% 0,93-0,98) in multivariate analysis. We also propose a novel nomogram using FKSI-19 and NOT using PS as Karnofsky with good accuracy. AUC 0.86 (IC 95% 0.77–0.95)

We expect this finding to encourage clinicians who treat metastatic renal cell carcinoma to use PROs in daily practice.

We also think it is time to explore an alternative way to measure PS in oncology patients, Karnofsky and ECOG are very clinician-related scales and maybe FKSI-19 could be an alternative patient-related measurement.
