Radical cystectomy (RC) represents the gold standard treatment for high-risk bladder cancer. Despite evidence suggesting that surgical experience correlates with perioperative and oncologic outcomes of robot-assisted RC (RARC), validated tools to assess its quality objectively are lacking.

To address the association of perioperative surgical checklist across variable surgical expertise with transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) accuracy and oncologic outcomes in non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC).

Background: In patients treated with partial nephrectomy, prior evidence showed that peri-operative outcomes, such as complications and ischemia time, improved as a function of the surgical experience of the surgeon, but data on functional outcomes after surgery are still scarce.

Although radical nephrectomy (RN) is the most common treatment for kidney cancer, no data on the learning curve for RN are available. In this study we investigated the effect of surgical experience (EXP) on RN outcomes using data for 1184 patients treated with RN for a cT1-3a cN0 cM0 renal mass.

Improved cancer control with increasing surgical experience-the learning curve-was demonstrated for open and laparoscopic prostatectomy. In a prior single-center study, we found that this might not be the case for robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP).
