The treatment of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) has rapidly evolved; however, the progress made in the field is heavily contingent upon timely and efficient accrual to clinical trials. While a substantial proportion of accrual occurs at tertiary care centers, community sites are playing an increasing role in patient recruitment.

Genomic studies have identified new subsets of aggressive prostate cancer (PCa) with poor prognosis (eg, neuroendocrine prostate cancer [NEPC], PCa with DNA damage response [DDR] alterations, or PCa resistant to androgen receptor pathway inhibitors [ARPIs]).

Type V-phosphodiesterase-inhibitors (PDE5i) are the first choice drugs in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED), being effective in 60-70% of patients. However, approximately 50% of patients per year discontinue the treatment with PDE5i after reporting poor drug efficacy or major adverse drug reactions (ADR).

Factors that influence prostate cancer treatment decisions are complex, multifaceted, and personal, and may vary by race/ethnicity. Primary tumor removal by cytoreductive nephrectomy in synchronous metastatic renal cell carcinoma patients has been investigated in the context of various treatment regimens. Two randomized controlled trials investigated the role and timing of cytoreductive nephrectomy in the era of targeted therapy and demonstrated that upfront nephrectomy should no longer be performed when patients require systemic therapy.

Radium-223 (Ra223) improves survival in metastatic prostate cancer (mPC), but its impact on systemic immunity is unclear, and biomarkers of response are lacking. We examined markers of immunomodulatory activity during standard clinical Ra223 and studied the impact of Ra223 on response to immune checkpoint inhibition (ICI) in preclinical models.

The current diagnostic pathway for patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC), which involves with computed tomography urography, cystoscopy, and transurethral resection of the bladder (TURB) to histologically confirm MIBC, delays definitive treatment.
