Evaluate long-term oncologic outcomes of patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) undergoing radical nephroureterectomy (RNU) and the impact of diagnostic ureteroscopy (URS) on survival outcomes.

Urethral carcinoma is a rare urological cancer, accounting for only 1% of malignancies in Australia. The most common histology is transitional cell carcinoma (TCC). The majority of these cancers are treated with surgery.

Transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder, the second most common urologic malignancy, is amenable to early diagnosis. This study presents the potential prognostic benefit for a less invasive modification to the standard endoscopic approach.

The incidence of bladder diverticulum is approximately 1.7% in children and 6% in adults. Dysplasia, leukoplakia, and squamous metaplasia and stone formation may develop in diverticulum and sometimes with malignant changes. The most common histological subtype of diverticulum tumors is transitional cell carcinoma (TCC). Herein we report 2 such cases of transitional cell carcinoma arising in diverticulum of the urinary bladder, one of which was associated with diverticular stones.

Bladder cancer is one of the most prevalent genitourinary cancers responsible for about 150,000 deaths per year worldwide. Currently, several treatments, such as endoscopic and open surgery, appended by local or systemic immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy are used to treat this malignancy.

Chemoablation is an emerging treatment for urothelial carcinomas. This review provides an overview of the evidence for intracavitary chemoablation in the treatment of urothelial carcinomas. The benefits of such agents include a reduction in morbidity and diseased organ preservation.

Improved outcomes for patients with InvUC could come from advances on several fronts including emerging immunotherapies, targeted therapies, and new drug combinations; selection of patients most likely to respond to a given treatment based on molecular subtypes, immune signatures, and other characteristics; and prevention, early detection, and early intervention.
